1. General information, not legal advice

DroneCompass is a free reference that summarizes drone rules for places in Maryland. It is general information only. It is not legal advice, an official government source, or a ruling on whether any particular flight is allowed. Nothing on the site creates an attorney-client or any other professional relationship.

2. You are responsible for your flight

Under FAA rules, the remote pilot is responsible for every flight. Before you fly, it is up to you to check current airspace and temporary flight restrictions (for example in the FAA’s B4UFLY app), confirm the rules with the agency or landowner that manages the place you launch from, follow posted signs and staff instructions, get any permission or permit required, and fly safely. If DroneCompass differs from an official source, a posted sign, or what staff tell you, follow the official source.

3. No guarantees

We work to keep the site accurate and show where each rule comes from and when it was last checked. Even so, rules change, sources can be wrong or incomplete, and mistakes happen. DroneCompass is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. “Verified” means a rule was checked with the source on the date shown; it does not mean the rule is still the same today. Maps, pins, circles, and weather are approximate and are not for navigation.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, DroneCompass and its owner are not liable for any fines, penalties, citations, damage to property, injury, loss of equipment, lost income, or any other loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its information. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

5. Links and other sources

DroneCompass links to government websites, apps, and other outside sources that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.

6. Reports from pilots

When you send a report through the site, you confirm that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you allow us to use it to check and update the site. Reports are not published as rules until we confirm them with the source.

7. Not affiliated

DroneCompass is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA, the State of Maryland, any county or city, the National Park Service, or any other agency, school, or organization named on the site.

8. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and the site at any time; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.
